American National has made the strategic decision to stop writing new life insurance business and will focus on continuing to grow our Annuity, Pension Risk Transfer (PRT) and farm and ranch and targeted commercial Property & Casualty businesses. As of May 31, 2025, American National will no longer accept new life insurance applications.

Strategic Focus: American National will focus our resources, energy, and capital on businesses in which we can be among the biggest and the best: Annuity, PRT and P&C.
Financial Strength: To uphold our mission of being a source of certainty for our clients, we must continuously strengthen our financial position by assessing our capital usage and managing risk. This is essential for maintaining financial health and achieving long-term success. Although our life business has been profitable, it does not fit our capital strategy and preferred risk profile of where we are headed as a company.
American National is committed to remaining a source of certainty for our current life clients and will continue to fully service all in force life insurance policies. We recognize the key role life insurance has played since the company’s earliest days and appreciate the strong partnership of organizations like yours through the years. We remain proud of the positive impact we’ve had with life insurance and thank you for being part of that.
